TRACK#1
AT THE END, THE CROWD WAS MOSTLY QUIET, MAYBE A LITTLE MELANCHOLY.
[SOT/Krystle Carstens, Penn State]
"Between the whole week, and it's just my last game, it hit me harder than I thought it would."
WHERE THERE WAS RIOTING WEDNESDAY AFTER THE FIRING OF HEAD COACH JOE PATERNO…ON SATURDAY A CHOIR SANG.
[NATSOT: "we sing for the children we are."]
THERE WAS HEAVY SECURITY…INSIDE THE STADIUM AND OUT.
SIGNS WARNED OF A BOMB THREAT.
NEW INTERIM COACH TOM BRADLEY ENTERED THE FIELD WITH A POLICE GUARD.
BUT IN THE END, IT WAS PEACEFUL.
THE PLAYERS LOCKED ARMS IN SOLIDARITY.
NEBRASKA RUNNING BACK COACH RON BROWN SAID THE PRAYER FOR BOTH TEAMS.
[SOT/Ron Brown, Nebraska Running Back Coach] "there are a lot of little boys around the country today who are watching this game. And they are trying to figure out what the definition of manhood is all about. Father, this is it right here. I pray that this game would be a training ground of what manhood looks like. That we would compete with fierce intensity with the honor and the gift and the talent you've given us. "
FANS CHEERED WHEN PENN STATE SCORED…BUT NEBRASKA WON THE GAME 17 TO 14.
THIS IS A COMMUNITY STILL ASSESSING ITS WOUNDS.
[SOT/Ed Shemansky, Penn State Alumni]
"The college is going to have to deal with it, the fans are going to have to deal with it, and we're going to have move forward from here I think it's just a shame it had to happen, but what are you gonna do.
[SOT/Niki Cox, Penn State Student]
"There's going to be a lot more details and a lot more horror stories that come out from all of this and hopefully in the end there can be closure for everyone."
FANS LEAVING THE STADIUM LOOK AT A MURAL…IT INCLUDES A CHAIR, WITH A RIBBON REPRESENTING SUPPORT FOR VICTIMS OF CHILD ABUSE.
UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO, AN IMAGE OF JERRY SANDUSKY WAS THERE.
HE STANDS ACCUSED OF THE ONGOING SEXUAL ASSAULT OF SEVERAL BOYS OVER AT LEAST 15 YEARS.
PATERNO WAS FIRED AFTER A GRAND JURY INDICTMENT INDICATED HE KNEW AT LEAST SOME OF WHAT WAS GOING ON, BUT DIDN'T GO TO POLICE.
PENN STATE HAS TWO REMAINING GAMES IN THE REGULAR SEASON… BOTH AWAY GAMES…NEXT SATURDAY THEY PLAY OHIO STATE.
