If you go to Quebec City, I highly recommend taking a scenic tour of Île d'Orléans — a half-hour’s drive away. It takes about an hour to drive around the island.
Cross the Île d'Orléans Bridge and follow the Royal Highway around the island. As you wind through rolling hills and lush vineyards, you’ll pass rustic farmhouses, orchards, berry fields, historic churches, and artisan shops.
For me, with Quebecois roots, this visit was particularly meaningful. I was drawn to the Parish of Saint Jean, where some of my ancestors settled when they first arrived from France in the 1600s.
Immerse yourself in the island’s rich heritage, a slice of rural life that feels truly timeless.
