During his visit to Annapolis for the U.S. Naval Academy'
s Class of ’52 reunion, CAPT James "Jim" Lovell, USN (Ret.), christened a recently donated Swan 56. The boat was named Apollo in honor of Lovell’s participation in NASA’s Apollo Space Program (1963-1972). For a time, Lovell was the world’s most traveled astronaut and part of several historical firsts with his flights on Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8 and the famous Apollo 13 mission.
