In this video and description, you will hopefully find some inspiration or help and guidance through how to modify a WPL C34 Toyota FJ40 RC Trail Truck! 🤩 The FJ is one of my favourite 4x4's, so getting round to modifying mine after enjoying it in stock form for a quite a few months has been very exciting! I have tried to document this build as best possible to be able to share as much as I can... keeping up the RCOCM ethos!
It's upgrades include: WPL metal axles, 56mm budget Oil Shocks, 70mm Injora Swamp Claws, metal geared servo, a single speed gearbox with reduction gears, a higher rpm 370 motor and basic upgraded electronics.
👇👇 Below you will find links to all the products used (or close alternatives) and any extra hints & tips I could think of relating to this build. The video is designed so you can easily pause each section to be able to study each step in detail.
Best of luck with your build... remember to take your time, learn as you go but above all... enjoy it! 😍🤘

⭐⭐ GENERAL TIPS, HINTS AND HELP 👇👇
Don't forget BLUE threadlock (or superglue) for all metal to metal fixing screws, once each element that requires it is adjusted to fit correctly or function properly ⭐⭐ You may want to pull apart the axles, shim the input gear with 5x3x0.5mm shim and fix the driveshaft to the input shaft while the axle is in half for a snug fit ⭐⭐ You may feel a shim on the outside is also required for a good fitment of the driveshaft (shims best found on ebay) ⭐⭐ Make sure all axle grub screws are set correct, then tightened with blue threadlock or superglue ⭐⭐ Grease all gears with a lithium grease ⭐⭐ When plugging into the receiver, remember - 1 to turn, 2 to burn - meaning channel 1 on the receiver is for the steering servo, channel 2 is the motor connection or that of your ESC (as that has the motor wired to it) ⭐⭐ The springs that come with the 56mm oil shocks aren't strong enough for the weight of the modified truck. Over the last few months I have sourced various springs and found that a good selection of 45mm long spings ranging from 0.7 - 0.9 guage with an outer diameter of 10mm, are very useful to play around with. I have also included a link to some cheap shocks that I tend to use the springs from ⭐⭐
