Once a laid-back beach town on the west coast of Cambodia, a rapid change from around 2018 saw the town rapidly transformed into a casino city catering primarily to Chinese gamblers.
The money that poured in and the funded development that ensued was on a scale that I find hard to fathom. Was there any thought at all about social issues such as gambling addiction with this all eggs in one basket approach. A traveller's paradise lost forever.
