We visited Elmsbrook, the UK's first zero carbon community in Bicester, Oxfordshire. This eco town, was created with highly sustainable buildings and homes in mind. Using solar panels on the roof of each of the 400 highly energy efficient homes, this community is the first of its kind.
Over 40% of this development is green space and wild areas to encourage biodiversity, and all of the waste is either recycled, reused or put to compost.
None of the waste from these homes goes to landfill. This reduces 30% of the project’s carbon footprint.
