Sung by soprano by Eimear Foley, accompanied by Alessio Loiacono; filmed at Saint Paul's Catholic Church, Mount Lawley - Western Australia.
Fr Michael Joncas wrote a hymn a few weeks ago titled Shelter Me that we can use as a prayer during this time of COVID-19. You will know Father Michael Joncas for his compositions “I Have Loved You”, “No Greater Love”, “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Song of The Lord’s Supper“ amongst others. In an interview about this song, Fr Michael Joncas says he hopes that it “will help people get through the pandemic, that they will have a sense that it is survivable and that God’s presence is with us through it.
The recording features a Perth musician Eimear Foley singing and the Music Field Officer, Centre for Liturgy – Alessio Loiacono accompanying. We recorded the music at Saint Paul’s Church, Mount Lawley and as it turns out, in a perfect part of the Church with Jesus and Mary in the background. We pray that they will shelter us all during this time of pandemic, and these recordings will help you pray and survive COVID-19.
We thank Father Tim Deeter (Parish Priest at Saint Paul’s) for the use of the Church to record Shelter Me.
