Buongiorno La Scuola,
As we all navigate the Covid-19 pandemic, the fires around us, the political unrest, and the much-needed change that we have ahead of us, I think it is important that we continue to focus on our vision of educating La Scuola children to meet the needs of the rapidly changing world.
This is what I would like to focus on today and remind ourselves that we need to continue to be a community, stick by one another, and hold a high image of our children. It is now more important than ever.
A few years back, we came together and decided as a school that we would stick by some agreements that every student, faculty member, family, and any person walking through the La Scuola doors will abide by.
These agreements are Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, and Collaboration.
We start to live by them at school, but now that some of you can’t be in school, we truly encourage you to embrace them at home. There is so much uncertainty out there, that coming together around common understanding, goals, and values, will be something that hopefully helps us navigate the challenges in our lives. We want to continue to be a connected community. A community that believes in supporting one another - students, parents, faculty, and staff. All of these complex relationships that are in between, what Reggio Emilia believes to be, the triangle of the school which is the Child, the Parent, the Teacher, and the School.
Our relationships must be intentional and supportive as we are in a time where there is no roadmap and nothing we can compare to. We must continue to assume we are all doing our best, assume good intent, and continue to treat each other with kindness, empathy, and respect. Let’s hold on to one another, let’s continue to find that joy within us and in the world around us. Let us hold on to the belief that there is hope and that a better future lies ahead.
We continue to update you with the most recent news and hopefully, we will be together again soon as a community, and we continue to be together with those of you who are at home and who will remain home.
I look forward to speaking with you next week. Andra’tuttobene - all will be well.
