IU is receiving Landmark Recognition by the American Chemical Society for research done by Professor Harry Day, graduate student Joseph Muhler, and Professor William Nebergall on how to get fluoride additives into toothpaste. This invention solved the problem of dental caries, an epidemic before the invention of fluoridated toothpaste.
This recognition is only one example of the transformative research being done in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University.
