When Hamas gunmen attacked the Nova festival site on October 7 in Israel, Laura Kadar Blajman wished she would rather die than being taken into Gaza as a hostage.
On Sunday (November 5), Kadar Blajman went back to see the caravan where she hid for about six hours with her husband and her friends during the attack looking for answers about her survival.
"That won't explain to me why did I survive, it's all plastic", she told Reuters standing by the door of what's left of the caravan that saved her life.
The attackers tried repeatedly to open the door while her husband was holding it closed, they broke the lock but could still not enter the vehicle, she explained.
Kadar Blajman said she is still not able to sleep thinking about what happened and thinks she will not be able to until she finds out whether her friends taken into Gaza are still alive.
Israel says 1,400 people were killed by Hamas militants in the rampage through Israeli towns and Kibbutzes and over 240 hostages were taken, many of them thought to be in captivity in Hamas's vast Gaza tunnel network which Israeli troops have begun attacking.
