In the Corona Borealis constellation, there is a dark spot. Astronomers and non astronomers everywhere are monitoring that spot, because soon a “new” star will appear there. And NASA has officially called it a “once-in-a-lifetime event”.
This event that everyone is so eagerly anticipating is called a nova, or more specifically a recurrent nova.
For this star, called the T Coronae Borealis, the cycle repeats every 80 years.
Now this star tends to dim slightly for a year before an eruption, and it started dimming back in March 2023.
So while astronomers cannot predict the exact date of this historic moment, they managed to estimate that it was likely to happen around September 2024.
Which means the nova explosion can happen any moment now.
