STORYLINE:
Japanese relatives of victims of the tsunami arrived at a morgue in Colombo on Thursday to identify the bodies of loved ones feared killed on Sunday.
Tanioku Tetsuo, President of Tairiku Tours and Leisure, who travelled with the relatives, said he saw seven dead bodies of Japanese tourists. He added that, according to local police, the figure could rise.
The massive earthquake and tsunami killed at least 22,799 people in Sri Lanka and injured another 8,815, according to official tolls.
Some 4,059 remained missing and nearly 1 million people are homeless.
The Red Cross feared the death toll would surpass 100,000.
