Natural Nuclear Fission is places in the Earths crust where Plutonium settled in clumps and water is boiled off around it in aquifers! Meltdown has not occurred for 100's of 1000s of years. I suspect meltdown has occurred in some of these natural fission reactors and some of the craters we see today were caused by these phenomenons.
