When the Algerian Highway Agency (ANA) needed to lift a heavy bridge on one of Algiers’ main roads, client MNG MAPA entrusted the project to Sarens Algerie. Time was a crucial factor in this operation because the road, a main highway axis with heavy traffic, needed to be closed for limited periods of time over the course of a weekend. This put heavy pressure on the collaborators who took part in this project, and the project team had to work night and day without interruption to complete the operation within the tight time frame.
To lift the 35-tonne, 5-metre high bridge elements, Sarens used a QUY260 crane with the main boom in S configuration (41 metres). Working for two days straight, the crew performed five picks with the crane, lifting in a fixed position with minimum movement and crawl despite challenging wind speeds on-site.
