On Saturday the 1st of April 2023, railway history was made! Q Class steam locomotive number 131 made it's first visit to the Republic of Ireland since 1963 after it's over 60 year absence.
The RPSI dubbed the railtour 'The Phoenix' and it ran from Dublin Connolly - Dundalk & return, 071 class loco number 074 hauled the train from Connolly - Dundalk. Then 131 took over and hauled the train back to Connolly on it's historical run.
It was absolutely brillant to witness history being made right before my eyes and I hope to see more of 131 in the coming months.
Just a shame the weather did not cooperate!
