Squaring off wheel thrown pottery is a popular way to add interest to a form. But if it is a lidded form, altering a wheel thrown lid to fit the squared-off jar just right is not easy. Bill Wilkey has a great solution to this challenge: a handbuilding technique! He handbuilds his square lids with a slab that is slumped right down into the jar itself creating a nearly perfect fit that requires minimal tweaking - much easier than trying to throw and alter the lid. In this clip, we are sharing a quick little excerpt of that technique from Bill’s video Altered Forms with Textured Surfaces. This video is available in the Ceramic Arts Network Shop: [ Ссылка ]
