Originally called the Moretonhampstead and South Devon Railway, this line has been unused since 2015 when the final log train was used to haul timber from Teigngrace Plantations to Chirk in Wales.
The line originally linked with the Teign Valley line which emerged at Exeter Basin Junction & was proposed as a realistic alternative of the troubled 'sea wall' segment between Teignmouth & Dawlish during the storm destruction of February 2014, sadly any hope of this now looks over with this level of destruction. The adjacent Stover Canal has also disappeared under water.
