Is digital taxation the key to social justice when we see the example of Biden?
Yes. However, I invite you to look at the US policies. I am glad the US is following us in this proposal, which had been blocked by the US in the past. If they are able to reach us, it would be as a result of our work. A long road is ahead for the US to reach EU’s digital taxation.
Europeans are working to ensure equal access to vaccines for all.
Actually, this is not a discussion about waiver of patents.
First, laboratories cannot produce vaccines tomorrow, it takes time. EU is working on giving vaccine doses to those in need.
Second, we cannot block ingredients and vaccines. Today the UK blocks many vaccine ingredients. We are the most generous in the world in terms of vaccine supply when we see that the United States is keeping the vaccines for its people. In Europe we export the most of vaccines to third countries.
Third, the key is transfer of technology to produce vaccines to help the developing countries. I am favourable to have this debate. We must preserve research and foster innovation. Solidarity is needed.
Will it be possible to convince Chancellor Merkel?
