Calm has returned to Somalia’s Southwestern town of Afgooye following last week’s attack on a Police Station. Africa Union Commander of Uganda’s battle group 18, Col. Ronald Bigirwa says the situation was stable and peaceful. He dismissed reports that the Al-shabaab militants had overrun the town after detonating a vehicle loaded with explosives at the Police Station. Addressing local media, Col. Bigirwa said that media reports were a distortion and an exaggeration of the situation on the ground. Local Police and residents dismissed reports that the town had been overrun.
