This video is a preview tutorial from a larger course called 3ds Max: Poly Modeling Projects from Beginning to Advanced.
In this particular tutorial, we are working on the cushion part of a high poly chair. I continue to demonstrate the various different techniques I use for poly modeling furniture and cushions in 3ds Max. Some of the important ones in this video are the FFD modifier, and the create shape command. Also extrude, and various other standard edit poly operations.
Poly modeling is such an essential tool to master in architectural visualization, or arch viz, especially if you want to create highly realistic custom objects. If you are totally unfamiliar with the basics of poly modeling, you can join the course (it starts at the beginning) or stay tuned on this channel for more introductory content coming soon (consider subscribing).
If you have some basic knowledge already of poly modeling, my hope is that this video will add something to your workflow, and make it a little easier, perhaps with a technique you didn't already know. Modeling nice cushions can add so much to a good furniture model, and it really is quite simple. In the tutorial I demonstrate the basics of my workflow that I have developed over many years.
Remember, if you need more help, you can download the finished model, and also join the full course to see how we got here. The price is VERY reasonable :)
