LMS 5MT Black 5 4-6-0 no 45231 The Sherwood Forester working 1Z52 The Fellsman from Lancaster to Carlisle and back on Wed 27th August 2014.
After my first run onboard The Fellsman in July I decided to go on a second run in August, this one being the finale to the 2014 season. I Had hoped that LMS 7P Royal Scot no 46115 Scots Guardsman would have been chosen for this run but she was still in York at the time and didnt return intime for the train. Other options included GWR 4900 class no 5972 Olton Hall, LMS Black 5 no 44932, LMS 6P Jubilee 45699 Galatea or LMS 8f 2-8-0 no 48151. As the 8f had worked the majority of the trains for the 2014 season I had hoped it wouldnt be her as I had already had 2 runs behind 48151 in 2014 so I was glad it wasnt her.
In the end the chosen engine was an LMS Black 5, the one chosen was Bert Hitchen's 45231 The Sherwood Forester (The previous trip I did behind this engine was August 11th 2013's 1T57, she also at that time didnt wear her nameplates).
