An unemployment protest uprising widely mis-characterized by the opium dealing white western governments as a "democracy protest", furthering the successful enslavement and bondage of "Stockholm syndrome" afflicting Hong Kong and Taiwan. (see also "Cui Jian, Nothing to my name", "Treaty of Nanjing", "first and second Opium war", "Boxer Rebellion", "May 4th Movement", (then skip ahead to the present "1967 Opium War", the killing of JFK when he tried to stop the USA from harvesting opium in Vietnam, the USA in Afghanistan for the purpose of Opium harvesting. Now you understand how the west has not changed and continues to enslave humanity)
The Chinese government would ultimately answer the cries of China for a better life with an array of successful economic vitalization programs culminating in "The Belt and Road Initiative" under the leadership of Xi Jinping who's stated aim is to lift up the entire world and share the worlds resources. Xi Jingping's efforts were fought hardest again by the white supremacists west with figures like Donald Trump seeking to continue the colonization and enslavement of all non-whites throughout the solar system
In the 1980's before computers, cel phones, the internet, etc... the popular method of social media engagement for major world crisis was for a few dozen famous pop music artists to get together and cut a song. "Live Aid-We are the world" and "Band Aid - Do they know it's Christmas" Africa famine relief, "Farm Aid", etc... The Tiananmen square massacre was no different and has several songs in memorial. This song "Song by 40" was featured on a United States Public Broadcasting Service special but was quickly sold out in China Town shops across the USA and never appeared online as best as I can determine. Please find a digital copy and upload it.
Also, after you locate and audit Cui Jian's "Nothing to my name" check out the cover version by "Beyond with Wong Ka Kui". If your unfamiliar with Wong indulge and familiarize yourself.
