To fish anywhere is Spain including the Canary Islands you need a fishing licence. Obtaining these is not easy with incredibly ridiculous bureaucracy and wasteful processes which are very time consuming.
We will show you how to get yours, where to go and what you need to help make the process a little less painful.
It will still be painful but hopefully less than the 1000 Euro fine you could get if caught fishing without a licence.
Please click like and subscribe and remember to watch the full length video which also contains all the details you need along with some information on where to fish safely with a 10 yr old. Below also is the details and addresses you will need in Fuerteventura.
Fuerteventura Fishing Office
This is located in the capital Puerto del Rosario, and is where all the licenses paperwork is issued. All you have to do is take your passport, and have some cash (around 16 euros).
You also need a copy of the birth certificate for any children (under 16) you want to get a licence for. Yes kids need a licence too and there is no price reduction.
The clerks will help you fill the application form, and will print out bank payment forms for you.
Then, you need to walk to the nearest bank office (about 15 minutes walk) and pay the fees. You used to be able then to walk back with the proof of payment, and the licence will be issued on the spot. Now you have to go to a different address to get the final licence issued. Here's the address for step 1.
Calle Lucha Canaria, 112
35600 - Puerto del Rosario
Telephones: +34 928 53 11 84
+34 928 53 12 03
If you are staying outside the capital (Puerto del Rosario), you can take the public bus, arrive at the capital main bus station, and then take a taxi from there.
The fishing office opens at 9 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, and closes at 14h except for the summer months, when it shuts at 1 o'clock. Remember to go early, and leave enough time for queueing at the office, as well as walking and queueing at the bank. Summer months are very busy because all the locals go to get the licences issued or renewed.
Then go to bank. Caixa Siete. 2 roundabouts down from the above. Photo of the bank is featured in the video so make sure to watch the full video.
Lastly or step 3 take paperwork to:-
Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
Officiant de Atentiona al Ciudadano.
C/ Primero de Mayo, nº 39. 35600 Puerto del Rosario.

Remember to get them laminated. A nearby photocopy shop is also featured in the video. As you will find out these are worth their weight in gold once you go through the painful process to obtain yours.
Good luck and happy fishing.
