Daman Singh graduated in Mathematics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, in 1984. For further studies she went to the Institute of Rural Management, Anand.

After working for twenty exciting years in the field of rural development, she retired. Her first book was a work of non-fiction -- The Last Frontier: People and Forests in Mizoram (1996).

Since then she has written two novels, both published by Harper Collins India: Nine by Nine (2008), and The Sacred Grove (2010).
