I first played this game back in 1986, and games like these really gave me a good impression about the Nintendo Entertainment System. It had the seal of quality from Nintendo, and games that had that golden seal really meant something back in those days.

Everything about this game was great at the time. It has great graphics, very good programming, very smooth frames, great music and sound, and great game play. Konami made great games back in the mid 1980s, for the NES. Games, like Castlevania, Rush'n Attack, Blades of Steel, Contra, Bayou Billy, and others were all fun and well made games. If you lived through the Atari age of the late 1970s and early 1980s, you will realize the big improvements Nintendo made. Those Atari 2600 games were horrible, the graphics were pixelated, and the characters didn't resembled stick figures. When you contrast a game like Gradius with a game like E.T. from Atari you can definitely see the difference in the quality.

The Japanese made very good console video games, and the Nintendo Entertainment System could be credited for saving the video game industry. Gradius was the classic Nintendo game, just like the classical music of Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Lizst, and Beethoven are considered classical. The difficulty in the game was fair, it was possible to finish the game. When I played it back in 1985, I finished the game many times without dying. It is much difficult to pull that off, because I am a 42 year old man now. I had to use cheats to finish this game. When you get older, you don't the dexterity that you used to have when you were 10 years old.

Games like this bring back the past, and for me it is nostalgia. This is the reason why I make videos like this, it brings back a piece of the past, and it brings back a piece of my childhood. Making videos like this brings back a piece of history. It is also a reminder how much technology progressed from 32 years ago.
