While being the single most commonly collected waste item found each year on beach clean-ups, cigarette butts are reported to comprise an estimated 25–50 percent of all collected litter items from roads and streets.
Since most of these butts are discarded with bits of tobacco still attached to them as well, they end up further polluting our environment with nicotine, which is poisonous.
