Katapel atau secara harfiah bahasa Inggris "catapult" berasal dari kata latin catapult atau to pull down and throw. Dulu favorit banyak orang tetapi di dunia yang penuh dengan gadget dan smartphone, jarang melihatnya di tangan anak-anak, namun Conayio, seorang pengrajin berusia 34 tahun dari Depok, Jawa Barat masih memproduksi mainan kecil bertenaga tangan ini.
Conaiyo pertama kali tertarik untuk memproduksi ketapelnya karena apa yang dia lihat sebagai produksi lokal yang berkualitas kurang profesional.
Kreativitasnya membuahkan hasil karena kini ia bisa mengekspor produknya ke beberapa negara Asia Tenggara/ bahkan ke Eropa.

Katapel or in literal English catapult comes from the Latin word catapult or to pull down and throw. It used to be the favorites of many but in a world full of gadgets and smartphones its a rarity to see it in children’s hands,
but Conayio, a 34-year-old craftsman from Depok, West Java is still producing this small hand-powered toy.
Conaiyo first gained interest in producing his slingshots due to what he saw as a lack of professional quality local production.
His creativity has paid off as now he’s able to export his products to several southeast Asian countries/ and even to Europe.
