[Sorry for various typos in the subtitles] Day hike from Hwy 3, via the Rush Creek Lakes trail, to the first intermediary on the Monument Peak ridge.
The access road to the trail head was closed, so that added 4km to the ascent and the descent. The underlying road was quite OK, even for a normal / non 4x4 car.
The weather was quite variable, windy and with some rain periods. The view from the top was amazing: the nearby Monument Peak is seen from its steep side. Across the valley all the major Trinity Alps peaks line up beautifully.
May come again to do the actual peak, but that would require two days, especially with the road closure at the start.
Conditions: quite windy weather, overcast and episodes of rain. In the afternoon the sky clears a bit. The snow was quite soft and mush on the ridge. Needed snowshoes for the final part of the trail.
