Part two of my experiments with live electronic performance with Ableton Push 2. For this piece I’m using a generative sequencer called ACDGEN. The device allows you to generate melodies and transpositions on the fly for dynamic performance. The ACDGEN Max4live package comes with ACDBRN which allows the Push to be split into 4 quadrants, each controlling one of 4 instances of ACDGEN. Lead, bass and vocal are controlled live using 3 ACDGEN instances. The pad is generated in real time as well using POLYFORM which receives midi from my lead ACDGEN instance and turns in into a chord. Both ACDGEN & POLYFORM are made by Spectral Audio. I’ve found both devices to be excellent for generating new ideas and assisting with live performance. The vocal you hear is from the poet David Whyte’s poem titled - The Bell & The Blackbird.
