This was the second game of a three team playoff of the 1st half of the Colonial League Title. The game took place on Monday, January 21, 1991. The game was played at William Allen High School's gym in Allentown, PA. Southern Lehigh defeated Saucon Valley in order to advance. Salisbury eventually won this game 66-62.
Excerpt from the Morning Call newspaper:
Moments later, however, Mike Yerkes was whistled for his fifth foul, and the Solehi guard, who had chased [Antoine Hubbard] all evening, sat down for the night. Hubbard quickly caught fire, pulling the Falcons within 56-54, then bringing the Salisbury followers to their feet with a pull-up 3-pointer off a break while also drawing the foul.
After Jim Coyle's jumper gave Solehi a two-point lead in overtime, the rest of the extra session belonged to Salisbury. Hubbard slipped inside to tie it, and after a Spartan miss, Faust rolled down the lane and found Scott Oldt for the go-ahead score with 27 seconds left. At the other end, [Jason Mack] grabbed a missed 3-pointer, but the Spartans were later whistled for traveling, and two Faust free throws with 12 seconds left sealed the win.
"We put it in overtime when I think they had won it, and I felt real good, because both Faust and Hubbard had four fouls," noted [Bob Shaffer]. "But the one thing that really hurt us was Mike Yerkes fouling out. We had quite a few turnovers there in the fourth quarter, and Mike could've stepped in and helped protect the ball; that was a big, big difference. And maybe he could've helped keep Hubbard under control.
