MacCormick Fellow Seminar by Prof Andrea Matwyshyn (Professor of Law and Co-Director, Center for Law, Innovation and Creativity; Northeastern University) on "The Internet of (Artificially Intelligent) Bodies."
Abstract:
The Internet of Things has begun to merge with human bodies, giving rise to an “Internet of Bodies.” This new Internet of Bodies where code bits and body parts blend implicates not only legal concerns over bodily integrity, security, and privacy, but also more fundamental legal and theoretical questions about the notion of technology “progress,” the future of the human body, and our vision for social governance.
This talk engages with two current debates in law and technology policy – questions of the Internet of Bodies and questions of ‘artificial intelligence’ governance. After elaborating on the legal intersection of these two debates, this talk offers a sliding scale of technohumanity to assist regulators and jurists in framing these next generation legal questions.
