Syria conflict : UN team allowed to investigate chemical weapon use
A UN team has been authorized to investigate the usage of chemical weapons in the Syrian conflict. This investigation has been agreed upon by the president of Syria Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian government, after discussions in Damascus with Angela Kane, the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, and Ake Sellstrom, head of the newly assembled UN team of chemical weapons experts. The UN weapon inspectors will visit 3 different sites where incidents were reported, such as Khan al-Asal, where at least 30 people were killed. However, Nick Harper explains that the UN will only focus on these three cases for now, while more than 13 incidents have been reported.
