New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo spoke to reporters Monday about the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in New York State.
Cuomo said that the first Coronavirus case in New York state is a 39-year-old female healthcare worker who returned from Iran last week with her spouse.
He added that she has tested positive at Mount Sinai hospital and her condition is mild. She is recovering at home with her husband, who is being tested, too, according to Cuomo.
The governor went on to say that “it’s not a question of if, but when” more cases of Coronavirus will be confirmed in New York state. He added that the challenge is about containment of the number of people infected, and that the government will start testing as many people as they can, “you’re not going to eliminate the spread but you can limit it.”
