Take five guys from Indiana, put them together in a band from the local high school and what do you get? This time it is the unlikely combination of the hit song, “California Sun”. The Rivieras turned “California Sun” into a smash hit in1964. Friends from the start, the young men took the name for their band from the car, the Buick Rivera, but it worked well with their song as many thought them to be another surf band from California.

The 24K Gold girls performed our version of, “California Sun” and it was always an audience favorite . One factor was that the song has re-mained familar through its use in many commercials, soundtracks for movies, and even Disney’s California Adventure. But the thing our fans would say stood out was the way Jeanine and the girls took the song and sang it as though it was their very own. They poured so much ener-gy into it that many could not resist singing and clapping along with them.
