Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Thursday 19th January 2023.

Current Situation:

Cold northerly winds continue though low pressure is ,moving away to the north east so snow showers will start to ease down...

Today:

Thursday begins with snow showers across western and northwestern regions with a longer spell of snow across northern Scotland. The rest of the country is dry and very cold with a widespread, hard frost.

Through the rest of the day snow showers will continue to east i the west with the band of snow across northern Scotland edging southwards and becoming lighter as it does so. The rest of the country will stay dry and cold with temperatures of -1C to +5C.

Tonight:

Wintry showers become confined to northern Scotland with the rest of the country having a dry night with long clear spells. It will be another cold, frosty and icy night with temperatures of -7C to -1C.

Tomorrow

One or two light showers down the east coast but most places will stay dry with good sunny spells. Less cold but still chilly at 2C to 7C.

Outlook:

Saturday: Light rain and drizzle in the north and west. Milder in the west, still cold in the south and east.

Sunday: Rain in the west, dry in the east. Still quite cold in the east.

Monday: Patchy rain in the north and west. Dry elsewhere. Much milder.
