UM-Flint’s Department of Public Safety, in partnership with AmeriCorps Seniors and the Valley Area Agency on Aging today announced the return of the university’s River Trail Watchers program. Originally launched in 2014 but suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program utilizes senior citizen volunteers to patrol the Flint River Walk from the UM-Flint campus to Ballenger Highway. Volunteers assist with picking up litter and reporting suspicious activity to the DPS via walkie-talkie. The program operates 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. Also announced was the continuation of The Garden Project. TGP, in partnership with UM-Flint Student Government and other student organizations, will maintain and enhance the university’s community park, located near the River Village complex. Both programs are part of the DPS Volunteers in Policing program. To learn more, visit [ Ссылка ]
