Rehnquist was known for his conservative judicial philosophy and his support for federalism, which advocates for greater power to be given to the states. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1924, and grew up in the suburb of Shorewood. He received his law degree from Stanford University and later attended Harvard University and Stanford Law School. During his tenure on the Supreme Court, Rehnquist was a key figure in shaping the court's decisions on a wide range of issues, including affirmative action, abortion, and federalism. He passed away in 2005, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential and longest-serving Chief Justices in American history.
