Hi Friends, today we'll cook one of my favorite Bengali traditional fish curry - that is Doi Katla Recipe. It is mix of katla macher jhal and dahi katla recipe. This Indian fish curry is one type of Bengali macher kalia recipe with added doi katla maach recipe Bengali style ( দই কাতলা ). It is once of mostly liked Bengali fish recipes. If you like katla macher recipe or doi pona recipe and prefer Bengali style fish curry, then you will surely love this katla fish curry Bengali style. Ingredients for Dahi Katla Recipe Bengali Style:
- 4 pic katla fish (or any big fish)
- 1 small size onion (chopped)
- 1/2 inch ginger (chopped)
- 4 green chillies
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 3 tbs mustard oil
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 1 green cardamom
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 cup curd (or dahi)
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
Method of Fish Curry with Yogurt Sauce:
- Marinate the fish with some salt & 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Coat well & keep aside for 10-15 mins.
- In a grinder jar add onion, ginger & garlic. Add little water & grind into a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan & add the marinated fishes. Fry the fishes on medium flame till golden brown. Flip it after sometime & fry the other side. Fry the fishes till goden brown from both sides. Take out & keep aside.
- In the same oil add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, green cardamom & cloves. Fry for few seconds. Add the prepared onion paste & fry for 2-3 mins on medium flame.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder & yogurt (*keep the flame low while adding yogurt). cook the masalas on medium flame till oil separates.
- Add water as gravy you want & let it comes to a boil. Add fried fishes, salt & sugar. Mix well & cook for 5-6 mins on medium flame.
- Add green chillies & garam masala. Let it cook for a minute. Switch off the flame & cover for 10 mins.
- Your Dahi Katla is ready to serve. Enjoy with plain rice.
