In this video i went to Tapkeshwar Mahadev which is a quite popular 6000 year old temple in Dehradun the capital city of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
The mandir has a very interesting history and architecture, which I really enjoyed during my time there.
It is believed that these caves were abode to Guru Dronacharya who practiced tapasya for 12 years before Shiv ji finally came to this place and blessed him with Dhanuvidya.
Ashwathama was also born here but his mother wasn’t able to breastfeed him so he prayed to Shiv ji for 6 months and it started dripping cow’s milk from the roof of the cave, which also named Shiv ji as Dudheswar, It is also believed that during Kalyug the people started misusing the milk which eventually lead to dripping of water instead of milk and till date it does happen at the same place.
