I make custom bespoke watches and this is the start of a new project.
Using a .8mm brass round blank, I have created a design in Adobe Illustrator and LightBurn and am engraving it into the brass using a 50w fiber laser at 20KHz at a speed of 55000 mm/minute and 95% of the power. This will have 100 passes each offset by the last pass at about 12 degree change in direction for each pass.
When it is done it will be hand polished up to 10000 grit and enameled using a glass powder enamel and then fired to melt the enamel in place. There will be several layers of enamel added and the final look with be a nice accent color of enamel and the polishing metal.
I use a clear gloss ceramic to seal everything and then will add luminous glow in the dark pips to the edge of the dial as hour markers.
