My 1997 GTX engine will not crank, even with the plugs removed. When I try to crank it, it just goes "thud" and draws a bunch of current from the battery (to the point that a brand new battery gets pulled down to about 10V and the electronics shut down). With the plugs removed, I can turn the drive shaft by hand, but it "hangs up" in certain spots. I can get it past those spots if I keep trying, but it is certainly not smooth.
