Late in the evening on September 23, 2023, officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission noticed a 2021 BRP personal watercraft being operated without navigational lights in the IntraCoastal waterway inside Jupiter Inlet. The operator, 23-year-old Instagram model Lauren Lila, was stopped due to these violations.
Upon interaction, officers detected signs of alcohol consumption. Lauren admitted to having two drinks and was asked to perform field sobriety exercises, which she failed. This led to her arrest for boating under the influence. A search of the vessel revealed empty alcohol bottles. Lauren was transported to the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center, where she refused to submit breath samples for testing.
After being booked into jail, Lauren was released the next morning pending her court appearance. She was issued citations for boating under the influence, refusal to submit to blood/breath/urine test, operating a PWC at night, not having operational navigational lights, and not having a boater ID card.
