How would gambling regulation affect video game loot boxes? Gamers online are arguing that loot boxes are or are not gambling on forums and social media locales of all kinds. Often these arguments involve concern over regulation ruining games in some way or another, but the reality of how this kind of gambling regulation would affect video games, loot boxes and microtransactions is likely far different. Gambling regulations applied to loot boxes in video games would have some interesting effects, and I wanted to talk about how all of that could work.
