The Cuba Libre is a super fun and easy cocktail to create! Served in a highball glass, this cocktail uses rum as a base for sweet cola and citrusy lime juice. Thus, the rum and coke is born (the Cuba Libre cocktail).
Although the true origin is debated, a commonly known story involves a US Army Captain based in Havana during the Spanish-American War. It is said he added a squeeze of lime juice and a serving of coke into his rum, toasting to his Cuban comrades, cheering "Por Cuba Libre!" ("To a free Cuba!"). The name, and drink, has since stuck, becoming a firm favourite even now.
