Turns out that Everest Basecamp isn’t even the highest we climb on this trek…which I found out when our guides told us we were going to attempt to climb a nearby mountain around the same height to acclimate. 🤪
Did I want to do an extra 5 hour hike that didn’t get me any closer to Basecamp? No!! Did i do it anyway to prepare to reach our goal in 2 days? Kind of! Did I walk outside in the morning and see a glorious white winter wonderland with blue sunny skies and want to go up higher for stunning views? YES!!!
This was the hardest hike so far due to the incline and altitude, but we stopped a lot for water breaks (and photos), and it turned out to be really beautiful! We even did a singing bowls session near the top with one of our guides who is also a meditation teacher.
We’re all extremely excited for our 6 hour trek tomorrow to a lodge with warm showers (so far we’ve had one shower in 6 days, which is nothing compared to 0 showers in 8 days for Kilimanjaro), and then the day after that we will finally reach Everest Basecamp!!! Woohooo!!!!
