Ever since he started to crawl, my son has been very much into the mechanical and electrical side of things. If there's something that looks like a button/switch - it needs to be pushed. A day without switching on the vacuum cleaner, messing up settings on the washing machine, oven or DVR ... is a day lost. This makes our lives a bit difficult sometimes, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Inspired by a photo published on "Scigacz.pl", I've decided to film our "weekly vehicle maintenance", which we try to perform every weekend on all "them things on wheels". Including my son's 6V Feber "Kripton" quad. 8 minute footage in this film contains bits of a 2 hour long video, focusing on the bike and the quad only, skipping all the car washing and battery charging, which would probably seem a bit boring. (Unless you're into battery chargers and find them fascinating. Hmm?)
We're cleaning the bike (esp. excess oil from the chain lubrication system), checking chain slack, cogs, tires, tire pressure, nut&bolts, horn, lamps, idle RPM, clutch&throttle&break controls, etc. Then we're off to clean the quad. ^^
My wife believes strongly that this is not how a proper daily stroll with our kid should look like. I disagree. For me these are exactly the things a man should be doing with his son on a lazy Saturday morning.
He's not saying much, but I think he agrees.
