Exterior Style: Both trims of the Prime are sport-oriented with black and chrome accents, sportier wheels, and an available two-tone paint option. Now in its third model year, the RAV4 Prime is still looking great.
Interior: Comfortable and easy to get acquainted in. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa all work effortlessly and are easy to operate on the available 9-inch screen. Materials are better than most and the seats are quite comfortable.
Performance: The 2.5L 4-cylinder paired with an electric motor pump out an impressive 302 horsepower that is fun to drive. Acceleration is impressive with a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds and it handles better than most of the compact crossovers in the segment.
Family Friendly: As a 5-passenger compact crossover it offers a good amount of interior space and comfort. The rear seats offered reasonable space for adults and kids. Cargo area behind the second-row seats are good for short family trips as well as a trip to the grocery store.
Value: Prices are on the higher end, but this is traditionally a vehicle that holds its value well. Consider all of the standard safety features and available tax credit and the RAV4 Prime may come as less of a shock. Also consider the savings at the pump with the Prime’s impressive electric range of around 42 miles.
Final Statement: The RAV4 is already a class leader and it only gets better in the Prime version. Everything about this model is of a higher quality from performance to the dash materials. Fuel economy is beyond impressive with one of the highest ranges among plug-in hybrid crossovers. Prices can get steep, but think of it as an investment in a vehicle that will run for a very, very long time.
