Hey guys, Kevin with etrailer here. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the SumoSprings, helper springs on our 2015 Chevy Silverado 1,500. So, these springs are really gonna help you out, if you're hauling anything, maybe you got a bumper pole trailer, you're experiencing a whole lot of sag with your bed here, or maybe you're hauling some rock or appliances around and you just need that extra support. They're gonna work independently to make sure that your bed stays level, that way you don't experience any sway. and overall, these are really just gonna give you the support that you need. So, right now we got an empty bed.
We're gonna be taking some measurements, show you exactly where the height of the bed sits while it's empty, and then we'll give you some dimensions on once we throw some weight in this. So, starting off the wheel well's gonna sit right at about 38 inches empty. All right, and front our wheel well is going to be sitting right at about 35 inches. It's really important to check this, that way you make sure that your headlights aren't shining up, hitting anybody. You actually have 'em on the road so that you can actually see where you're going.
All right, so now we got our 1,900-pound water tank in the bed of the truck. You can see it's clearly weighed down the bed quite a bit I'll take a new measurement. So, we've dropped 3 1/4 inches down, we're down at 34 3/4, where we used to be at 38. Now we'll come over to the front, and take a measurement, and see where we're at. So, that raised us up about 1/4 of an inch.
So, our headlights are gonna be less on the road and more on the vehicles in front of us. All right, so now we're gonna give you a little example here. We're gonna take a ride through our bump course, show you what you might experience when you're out on the road, maybe dealing with some potholes on the highway or something like that, while you got a heavy load. So, we gonna come through here, now we feel just really weighed down, there's a ton of bouncing around that you normally wouldn't feel if you weren't loaded down. These factory bump stops are actually touching right now.
So, we're not really getting any suspension help. Just feels real stiff, real heavy. All right, so now we're gonna go down our slalom course here. We're gonna make some tight turns maybe some evasive maneuvers, try and give you that real experience of, without any suspension support besides just the factory bump stops. So, keep going here. So going around, like I said before it just feels real stiff. Don't feel I can really make tight turns without slamming on the brake here a bit. Really weighing me down right now. All right, so we got our water tank in the bed here. This weighs approximately 1,900 pounds. Now we can take a measurement here, see how much that dropped our bed, 'cause before it started at 38 inches, now we're looking at 36 1/4. So, it only dropped us an inch 3/4. Not terrible at all. You know, if we had just the factory bump stops on here I mean, this just drop way down, ruin our ride quality here, just like we shown you before on the bump ride test you'd be feeling every single rock on the road. Let's go upfront, we'll take a measurement up there, see exactly where we land at. So upfront, we're sitting at 35 1/2, pretty good. To keep our lights level, make sure that we're not shining our lights up in people's rearview mirrors, blinding anybody, making sure that we can actually see the road in front of us. All right, so now we're gonna take a little drive through our bump test course and try and do some tight maneuvers, see how well the truck handles here as we're riding around with that 1,900 pounds of water in the back. Honestly, even just coming up here, I couldn't even really tell that I had that water in the back. These springs offer 1,500 pounds in weight capacity. So, you really offset that weight completely there almost. So, really it just feels like I'm pretty much weightless. You know, I haven't added anything on, easily turning, I don't feel any swaying back and forth. These springs also work independently. So, if that tank was actually shifted more to one side that spring would activate more to keep the bed level, so that you're not experiencing any sway, especially when you're going higher speeds. Maybe you're on the highway, maybe you got a shar
