Two of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL were Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts and Roger Staubach of the Dallas Cowboys.
This segment from NFL Films "Strange But True Football Stories (1987, hosted by Vincent Price) tells how these two great QB's had a unusual start for Unitas and ending for Staubach.
Johnny Unitas who played from 1958-1973 had his first pass ever intercepted and ran back for a touchdown.
Roger Staubach who played from 1969-1979, had his last completed pass to an ineligible receiver, Cowboys Guard Herb Scott. Roger indicated in his book "Time Enough To Win", that he told his wife Marianne "can you believe after all these years I completed my last pass to Herb Scott?"
I am sure that was more in reference to him ending speculation that he was going to retire, although the last completed pass was a surprise. For the record, Roger's last pass attempt sailed a little high over Drew Pearson's head on a 4th down play. But Herb, that ball would had been a nice souvenir to hang onto !
