From the 1930s onwards, Saurer was the most important manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty trucks in Switzerland, so that they were still present on Swiss roads in all kinds of variants until the 1990s. From the beginning of the 1980s, demand for original Saurer vehicles continued to decline despite the still acknowledged good quality, so that the decision was made to withdraw from the construction of commercial vehicles. In 1983, the last civilian Saurer was delivered.
